Hide likes on Instagram?
Instagram expanded its “Private Like Counts” or hide like counts test globally in 2019. Now, users can still privately see the number of likes they have received on a particular post, but that number won’t be visible to others.
Instagram is letting users decide whether to enable or disable the “Private Like Counts” feature. The company has started a small global test.
Instagram offers three options for its users:
- Turning off like counts on their posts.
- Not seeing like counts in anyone’s posts.
- Sticking with the current format.
Instagram said the goal is for users to “We want your friends to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get.”
We’re currently running a test that hides the total number of likes and video views for some people in the following countries:
✅ Australia
✅ Brazil
✅ Canada
✅ Ireland
✅ Italy
✅ Japan
✅ New Zealand
You can still see your likes by tapping on the liker list, but your friends will now not be able to view how many likes your posts have received. We’re looking forward to learning more about how this change might benefit everyone’s experience on Instagram.
